Wallpaper, explained.

Plain answers to the questions we get every week — before you buy, during the install, and after.

The Essentials

Before you buy.

How much wallpaper do I actually need?

More than you'd think, and the math isn't obvious. You measure the wall, but you also have to account for pattern repeats — the bigger the repeat, the more paper you waste matching it across drops. Always order at least one extra roll.

The simplest fix: book a free in-person measurement. We'll tell you exactly how many rolls to buy.

What are run numbers (and why do they matter)?

Every wallpaper roll is printed in batches called runs, and each run has a number on the label. Rolls from different runs can read as slightly different colors on the same wall — sometimes barely, sometimes obviously. Always order all your rolls from a single run.

If you order light and have to add a roll later, you may get a different run and a color mismatch. Order right the first time.

Vinyl vs designer paper — what's the difference?

Vinyl wallpaper is paper coated with a vinyl layer. It’s washable, durable, and forgiving — great for kitchens, kid rooms, and bathrooms. It’s also the easiest to install.

Designer paper is uncoated — sometimes silk, grasscloth, hand-painted, or metal leaf. It’s stunning. It’s also unforgiving, and a bad install will show every mistake. Worth every dollar in the right room, in the right hands.

Where to buy wallpaper in Utah

For sourcing, most of our customers go to Wallpaper Warehouse in Salt Lake City — they carry every major brand we install.

If you’re working with an interior designer, your designer can also order through trade accounts, which often works out better for designer brands like de Gournay and Fromental.

We don't sell wallpaper. We just install it.
